Melanin Genesis™Legal

Terms of Service

Effective date: January 1, 2026

These terms apply when you use thecolourofbeautiful.black and its subdomains, melaningenesis.com or karendmoore.media, or buy anything from The Colour of Beautiful Media & Entertainment Group, LLC ("we," "us"). By using our sites or making a purchase, you agree to them.

Using our sites

You may use our sites for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Please don't copy, scrape, resell or interfere with them, or use them for anything unlawful.

Purchases

Prices are in U.S. dollars and are shown at checkout. Payment is processed by Stripe when you buy. You're responsible for any taxes that apply. We may change prices for future purchases at any time; a change never affects what you've already paid for.

Your access to digital works

When you buy a digital work (such as Ink & Melanin, The Doll That Looks Like You or the Melanin Genesis Full Collection), you receive a personal, non-transferable license to view and use it for yourself. Some works are delivered by private link and some by account login. Please don't post links publicly, share your login, or copy, record or redistribute the works. If we see public sharing, we may change the link or end that access.

Memberships

The Reclamation Circle is a monthly membership, billed automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time by emailing info@thecolourofbeautiful.black; your access continues until the end of the month you've paid for. Founders' pricing stays the same for as long as your membership remains active without a break. If a membership is included with a purchase for a set period, your access ends after that period unless you choose to join. You won't be charged automatically.

Programs and mentorships

Programs such as the Immersive Artist Mentorship are enrollment by application and a short call. Seats are limited. If you choose a payment plan, you agree to every payment on the schedule shown at enrollment, and missed payments may pause your access. Session dates and times are listed on the program page.

Gifts

When you buy a gift, you confirm that you have the recipient's permission to give us her name and email for delivery. We'll send the gift on the date you choose. Gifts can't be exchanged for cash.

Refunds

  • Digital works: All sales are final once access has been delivered, because digital works can't be returned. If you can't access what you bought, contact us and we'll make it right.
  • Memberships: you can cancel at any time to stop future charges. Past months aren't refunded.
  • Immersive Artist Mentorship: if you attend the Week 1 session, complete the Week 1 work and decide the program isn't right for you, email us within 7 days of the first session for a full refund. No refunds after that. For the founding cohort, the deadline is February 11, 2027.
  • Live events: refunds are available until 48 hours before the event starts.

Live sessions and community spaces

Our circles and sessions are shared spaces. Please be kind, keep what others share confidential, and don't record sessions without permission. We may remove anyone who is abusive or disruptive, without a refund.

Not therapy

Our works, circles and programs are artistic and educational experiences about colorism, beauty and identity. They are not therapy, counseling or medical or mental health care, and they don't replace care from a licensed professional. If you're struggling, please reach out to a qualified professional.

Our content

Everything on our sites and in our works (films, poems, images, characters, frameworks such as the M.I.R.R.O.R. Experience™, text and design) belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may share links and short quotes with credit. Anything else needs our written permission.

What you share with us

If you send us a reply, testimonial or reflection, you keep ownership of it. We'll only quote it publicly with your permission.

Disclaimers

Our sites and works are provided "as is." We work to keep everything available and accurate, but we can't promise there will never be errors or interruptions. Results from our programs depend on you; we don't guarantee any particular outcome.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.

Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date above shows the latest version. Changes apply to purchases made after that date.
